Taxonomy
Tyrtaeus cupreorutilans was named by Vitali (2008). Its type specimen is Vitali 17762, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (Vitali coll), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
