Scytodes marginalis was named by Wunderlich (2004). Its type specimen is F921/CM/AR/SCY/CJW, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Madagascar copal (Wunderlich collection), which is in a Holocene terrestrial amber in Madagascar.
