Taxonomy
Selenops benoiti was named by Wunderlich (2004). Its type specimen is F1115/CM/AR/SEL/CJW, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Madagascar copal (Wunderlich collection), which is in a Holocene terrestrial amber in Madagascar.
