Taxonomy
Paracomatula was named by Hess (1950) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori-u J Bajo-u Sepkoski's reference number: 934,1066]. It is not extant. Its type is Paracomatula helvetica. It is the type genus of Paracomatulidae, Paracomatulacea.

It was assigned to Paracomatulidae by Hagdorn and Campbell (1993) and Hess and Messing (2011).
