Acidaspis buchi macroptalma was named by Kloucek (1916). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was corrected as Acidaspis buchi macrophthalma by Kloucek (1919); it was recombined as Selenopeltis buchi macrophthalma by Prantl and Pribyl (1949); it was recombined as Selenopeltis macrophtalma by Por and Gil Cid (1971); it was recombined as Selenopeltis macrophthalmus by Bruton and Henry (1978); it was recombined as Selenopeltis macrophthalma by Bruton (2008).
