Idelina mala was named by Aristov (2015). Its type specimen is PIN 1366/122, a wing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Kityak (PIN collection 1366), which is in a Roadian lacustrine siliciclastic in the Belebeevo Formation of the Russian Federation.
