Taxonomy
Diplodonta semiaspera was named by Philippi (1836). It is extant. It is the type species of Phlyctiderma.

It was recombined as Phlyctiderma semiasperum by Hendy et al. (2008); it was recombined as Diplodonta (Phlyctiderma) semiaspera by Coan and Valentich-Scott (2012).
