Taxonomy
Plesiodipus wangae was named by Gomes Rodrigues et al. (2012). Its type specimen is IVPP V17650.1, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ulantatal (UTL6), which is in an Oligocene terrestrial conglomerate/sandstone in the Ulantatal Formation of China.
