Coona pattersoni
Taxonomy
Coona pattersoni was named by Simpson (1948). Its type specimen is AMNH 28907, a mandible (left lower jaw with alveoli of P4-M2, whole crown of M3, and M4 with trigonid broken), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cañadon Hondo, Bird Clay locality, which is in a Casamayoran lacustrine claystone/tuff in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Coona.
