Taxonomy
Gobiomys exiguus was named by Wang (2001). Its type specimen is IVPP V 12521.1, a maxilla, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Urtyn Obo; IVPP locality 1991004, which is in an Eocene terrestrial horizon in the Ulan Gocho Formation of China.
