Simpsonotus major
Taxonomy
Simpsonotus major was named by Pascual et al. (1978). Its type specimen is MLP 73-VII-3-12, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Between Pisungo and Rio Grande, c 200m from Tres Cruces to Mina Aguilar road, which is in a Selandian/Thanetian terrestrial horizon in the Mealla Formation of Argentina.
