Griphotherion peiranoi
Taxonomy
Griphotherion peiranoi was named by García López and Powell (2011). Its type specimen is PVL 5903, a partial skeleton (complete skull and mandibles with complete dentition and part of the postcranial skeleton, including ribs, cervical, and thoracic vertebrae, and the right forel), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is El Simbolar (lower Lumbrera), which is in a Ypresian lacustrine mudstone in the Lumbrera Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Griphotherion.
