Taxonomy
Aegolius martae was named by Pavia (2008). Its type specimen is MGPT-PU 100045, a limb element (tarsometatarsus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Marasà Cave, which is in a Pleistocene cave breccia in Italy.
