Taxonomy
Plesiosminthus tereskentensis was named by Lopatin (1999). Its type specimen is PIN, no. 4516/479, a tooth (Right M2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Altynshokysu (bone bed I), which is in an Oligocene terrestrial siltstone/claystone in the Aral Formation of Kazakhstan.
