Gashternia carioca
Taxonomy
Gashternia carioca was named by Goin and Oliveira (2007). Its type specimen is MCN-PV 1801, a maxilla (fragment of left maxilla with complete P3 and M1, and roots M2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is São José de Itaborai, which is in an Eocene fissure fill marl in the Itaboraí Formation of Brazil.
