Brachystephanus postremus
Taxonomy
Brachystephanus postremus was named by Simpson et al. (1962). Its type specimen is AMNH 45946, a partial skull (associated partial skull and jaws with right I2-3, P2-4, M1-3, left P1-4, M1-3, right c1, p3-4, m1-3, left p3-4, m1-3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Divisadero Largo, which is in a Divisaderan terrestrial horizon in the Divisadero Largo Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Brachystephanus.
