Peratherium africanus

Taxonomy
Peratherium africanus was named by Simons and Bown (1984). Its type specimen is CGM 40236, a mandible (dentary bearing p2-m3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Quarry M (Jebel Qatrani Formation), which is in a Rupelian fluvial sandstone in the Jebel Qatrani Formation of Egypt.

It was recombined as Qatranitherium africanum by Crochet et al. (1992); it was corrected as Peratherium africanum by Gunnell (2010).
