Taxonomy
Advenimus hupeiensis was named by Dawson et al. (1984). Its type specimen is IVPP V5248, a mandible (rigth jaw with p4, m1-3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dajian of Wangjiazhai Village, Xijiadian Town, which is in an Eocene terrestrial horizon in the Yuhuangding Formation of China.
