Agassizodus was named by St. John and Worthen (1875) [Sepkoski's age data: C Serp-l C Mosc-u Sepkoski's reference number: 863,1066]. It is not extant.
It was assigned to Heterodontidae by Jordan (1963); to Eugeneodontida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Agassizodontidae by Zangerl (1981), Goto and Okura (2004) and Ginter et al. (2010).
