Nalameryx savagei
Taxonomy
Cryptomeryx savagei was named by Nanda and Sahni (1990). Its type specimen is WIF/A 411, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 3.5 km ESE of Kargil township (K/7b horizon), which is in an Oligocene fluvial-lacustrine mudstone in the Kargil Formation of India. It is the type species of Nalameryx.
It was recombined as Nalameryx savagei by Métais et al. (2009).
