Taxonomy
Saykanomys lavocati was named by Hussain et al. (1978). Its type locality is H-GSP 9210, which is in a Lutetian terrestrial claystone in the Kuldana Formation of Pakistan.
It was recombined as Basalomys lavocati by Kumar et al. (1997).
