Taxonomy
Bernaya (Protocypraea) caffrarica was named by Schilder (1932) [= Cypraea chubbi Rennie 1930: 220-221 [in part], pl. 27, figs. 2-4]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mouth of Umzamba River, Pondoand, which is in a Santonian marginal marine siliciclastic in the Umzamba Formation of South Africa.
It was recombined as Palaeocypraea (Palaeocypraea) caffrarica by Schilder (1941), Groves (1994).
