Cerapterides was named by Billberg (1820). It is extant.

It was corrected as Cerapterinae by Wasmann (1926); it was reranked as the subtribe Cerapterina by Bouchard et al. (2011).

It was assigned to Paussidae by Wasmann (1926); and to Paussini by Bouchard et al. (2011).
