Dichobune langi was named by Rutimeyer (1891). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Egerkingen, Huppersand fissure, which is in a Bartonian fissure fill horizon in Switzerland.
It was recombined as Hyperdichobune langi by Theodor et al. (2007).
