Taxonomy
Oxyaena menui was named by Rich (1971). Its type specimen is MNHN.F.1939-586, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Carrière de Cuis, which is in a Ypresian terrestrial horizon in France.
It was recombined as Matthodon menui by Solé et al. (2014).
