Taxonomy
Desmatotherium grangeri was named by Tokunaga (1933). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Miruto, Iwamizawa City, which is in an Eocene terrestrial horizon in Japan.

It was recombined as Plesiocolopirus grangeri by Tomida and Li (2004).
