Taxonomy
Zaisanamynodon protheroi was named by Lucas (2006). Its type specimen is UCMP 125898, a skull (skull and incomplete lower jaw), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hancock Quarry, which is in an Eocene terrestrial conglomerate/sandstone in the Clarno Formation of Oregon.
