Taxonomy
Microchoerus ornatus was named by Stehlin (1916). Its type specimen is Mt.132, a maxilla (Right maxilla with P2-M3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mormont Entreroches, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial horizon in Switzerland.
