Netsepoye was named by Lund (1989) [Sepkoski's age data: C Serp-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Netsepoye hawesi.
It was assigned to Petalodontida by Sepkoski (2002); to Belantseidae by Lund (1989), Ginter et al. (2010); and to Obruchevodidae by Lund et al. (2014), Hodnett et al. (2024).
