Taxonomy
Protarsomys lavocati was named by Mein and Pickford (2003). Its type specimen is AD483'95, a mandible (mandible with m1-m3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Arrisdrift, which is in a Miocene channel sandstone in Namibia.
