Mustelictis olivieri was named by de Bonis (1997). Its type specimen is FSP-MGB 60, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mas de Got (unknown horizon), which is in a MP 22 terrestrial phosphorite in France.
