Taxonomy
Athericites zazicola was named by Mostovski et al. (2003). Its type specimen is PIN 4210/5215, a wing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Baissa (PIN collection 4210, layer 31), which is in an Aptian lacustrine - large siltstone/marl in the Zaza Formation of the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Palaepangonius zazicola by Grimaldi (2016).
