Taxonomy
Hyracotherium siderolithicum was named by Pictet (1857). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mormont Eclepens, which is in a Bartonian terrestrial horizon in Switzerland.
It was recombined as Acoessus siderolithicum by Cope (1881); it was recombined as Lophiotherium siderolithicum by Deperet (1901), Hooker (1986) and Remy (2015).
