Taxonomy
Phausis fossilis was named by Beier (1952). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Halbopal at Luschitze, which is in a Chattian spring travertine in the Czech Republic.

It was recombined as Lamprohiza fossilis by Fanti (2017) and Fanti (2017).
