Conocoryphe ferralsensis was named by Courtessole (1967). It is the type species of Novocatharia, Catharia.
It was recombined as Catharia ferralsensis by Alvaro and Vizcaino (2003); it was recombined as Novocatharia ferralsensis by Özdikmen (2009).
