Megaloceros (Megaceroides) was named by Joleaud (1914).

It was synonymized subjectively with Megaloceros by Gentry (2010); it was reranked as Megaceroides by Azzaroli and Mazza (1992), Grubb (2000), Vislobokova (2013), Croitor (2014).

It was assigned to Megaloceros by Joleaud (1914); to Cervidae by Azzaroli and Mazza (1992); to Cervini by Grubb (2000); to Megacerini by Vislobokova (2013); and to Cervinae by Croitor (2014).
