It was synonymized subjectively with Pleurophorus bregeri by Ciriacks (1963); it was synonymized subjectively with Permophorus bregeri by Hofmann and Hautmann (2013), Hofmann et al. (2013); it was recombined as Permophorus similis by Hautmann et al. (2015), Foster et al. (2019).
