Taxonomy
Trilobus caudatus was named by Brünnich (1781). It is the type species of Dalmanites.

It was recombined as Dalmania caudatus by Emmrich (1844); it was recombined as Dalmanites caudatus by Barrande (1852), Bruennich (1883) and Jell and Adrain (2002).
