Taxonomy
Odontopleura bowningensis was named by Etheridge and Mitchell (1896). Its type specimen is A. M. f. 27715 [lectotype chosen by Chatterton 1971], an exoskeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Primaspis (Taemasaspis) bowningensis by Chatterton (1971).
