Archaeotiphe regularis was named by Bolton (1934). Its type specimen is BGS 51232, a tegmen, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Camerton colliery, near Radstock, which is in a Westphalian D delta plain shale in the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Archimylacris regularis by Jarzembowski and Schneider (2007).
