Taxonomy
Plesiosminthus margaritae was named by Freudenthal and Martín-Suárez (2017). Its type specimen is MIR1 193, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mirambueno 1, which is in an Oligocene fluvial-lacustrine horizon in the Alcorisa Formation of Spain.
