Taxonomy
Nileus amplus was named by Zhou et al. (2014). Its type specimen is NIGP 155319, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Collection NJ517, Dawangou, northwestern Tarim Basin, which is in a Katian slope lime mudstone/mudstone in the Qilang Formation of China.
