Taxonomy
Acanthopyge (Mephiarges) bifida was named by Edgell (1955). Its type specimen is Stanford Univ. Paleo. Type Coll. No. 8305, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a cast.
It was recombined as Acanthopyge (Jasperia) bifida by Thomas and Holloway (1988); it was recombined as Jasperia bifida by Jell and Adrain (2002).
