Diagnosis

---|---|---|
E. Vlachos 2018 | Pseudemys williamsi can be diagnosed as a member of Emydidae and Pseudemys by the full list of shell characters listed for those clades above. Pseudemys williamsi resembles Pseudemys concinna in the presence of a short, viscerally-overlapped cervical onto the nuchal and short gular overlap on the entoplastron, but differs in the presence of an unnotched pygal and unserrated peripherals. | |
R. E. Weems 2023 | Nuchal with characteristic P. williamsi conformation. Costals and peripherals have a nearly smooth, dense external surface with prominent sulcal grooves that mark the borders of dermal scutes.
