Taxonomy
Hirundo urbica was named by Linnaeus (1758). It is extant.

It was recombined as Delichon urbica by Montoya et al. (2001), Mlikovsky (2002), Zelenkov et al. (2008); it was recombined as Delichon urbicum by Clements et al. (2017), Carrera et al. (2018), Marqueta et al. (2025).
