Isodectes was named by Cope (1896). It is not extant. Its type is Pariotichus megalops.
It was assigned to Pariotichidae by Cope (1896), Hay (1902), Case (1911), Hay (1930), Kuhn (1966); to Saurerpetontidae by Carroll (1988), Sequeira (1998), Schoch (2013); and to Eobrachyopidae by Yates and Warren (2000), Schoch and Milner (2014).
