Trinucleus senftenbergii was named by Hawle and Corda (1847).
It was recombined as Marrolithus senftenbergi by Cech (1975); it was synonymized subjectively with Deanaspis goldfussii by Shaw (1995); it was recombined as Deanaspis senftenbergi by Havlicek et al. (1996); it was recombined as Deanaspis goldfussii senftenbergii by Fortey et al. (2011); it was recombined as Deanaspis seftenbergii by Wagner (2020).
