Coragyps shastensis (vulture)
Taxonomy
Catharista shastensis was named by Miller (1911). Its type specimen is UCMP 8603, a limb element (tarsometatarsus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Potter Creek Cave, which is in a Pleistocene cave horizon in California.
It was recombined as Coragyps shastensis by Hay (1930) and Lambrecht (1933).
