Taxonomy
Erythromachus leguati was named by Milne-Edwards (1874). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Plaine Corail, Rodrigues (Jenner collection), which is in a Holocene cave siltstone in Mauritius.
It was recombined as Aphanapteryx leguati by Günther and Newton (1879), Lambrecht (1933), Olson (1977).
