Taxonomy
Psittacus mauritianus was named by Owen (1866). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mare aux Songes swamp (Clark collection), which is in a Holocene mire/swamp peat in Mauritius.
It was recombined as Lophopsittacus mauritianus by Newton and Gadow (1893), Lambrecht (1933), Hume (2007), del Hoyo et al. (2014).
